A responsible, rooted, sustainable, and human festival

Commitments

At Hellfest, music is a passion, but our commitment goes far beyond the decibels. Every year, we welcome 60,000 festival-goers per day in a spirit of celebration, respect, and sharing. Aware of our impact, we are dedicated to evolving the festival so that it remains an exemplary and sustainable human adventure.

ENVIRONMENT

Continuing a policy of commitment on this subject since its creation, Hellfest Productions takes concrete action to reduce its ecological footprint.

Waste reduction:

Hellfest implements an ambitious waste management policy with:

  • reusable cups available throughout the site,
  • an enhanced selective sorting system, accompanied by clear signage and awareness teams,
  • the gradual elimination of single-use plastic, replaced by compostable or recyclable materials,
  • a partnership with local recycling associations,
  • the valorization of biowaste from food stands.

Soft mobility:

Reducing transport-related emissions is a priority:

  • special trains depart each year from major cities,
  • a dedicated carpooling platform connects festival-goers with each other,
  • secure and free bike parking is provided,
  • local shuttles link the train station or West parking lot to the site,
  • encouraging communication promotes low-carbon mobility.

Energy:

The festival is rethinking its energy consumption at all levels:

  • experimenting with innovative solutions, using renewable energy sources, notably through the integration of biofuel generators and committed suppliers,
  • reducing consumption thanks to more efficient stage equipment and logistics (LED lighting, optimized installations),
  • installing smart sensors to adjust power supply based on actual needs.

Biodiversity & associations

In 2024, Hellfest Productions and Savage Lands France signed a partnership agreement to protect biodiversity by engaging the festival and Metal communities (artists, spectators, labels, producers). Through an annual contribution of €200,000, Hellfest Productions supports Savage Lands in its actions, notably in acquiring land to enable the sanctuarization of territories in France and worldwide.

DISCOVER Savage Lands’ actions

Hellfest also actively supports initiatives for the environment and animal life, in partnership with organizations such as Sea Shepherd, Plastivore, and the SPA.
These collaborations aim to raise awareness within our community and contribute concretely to the protection of living beings.

Carbon footprint & transition

Since 2025, Hellfest has been measuring its carbon footprint to better understand and reduce its impact. This commitment is part of a clear goal: to actively contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, in line with the objectives set by the Paris Agreement.

What if we went further?

With its growing influence, Hellfest can become a true agent of change. We believe in the power of collective action to evolve mindsets and practices, and encourage everyone — festival-goers, artists, partners — to become actors of the ecological transition. Because even in hell, we can protect the planet.

Accessibility & Inclusion

Metal is universal, and Hellfest aims to be open to everyone:

  • Dedicated reception for people with disabilities, including support, adapted areas, and clear signage.
  • Implementation of actions to promote diversity and inclusion within teams, both on stage and among the audience.
  • Commitment against all forms of discrimination, harassment, or violence.

Support for the local area & economy

Rooted in Clisson, Hellfest actively supports its region:

  • Local jobs, use of local artisans, merchants, and service providers.
  • Promotion of local gastronomy, independent producers, and short supply chains.
  • Support for local associations.

Culture, Prevention & Awareness

We believe in the power of information and prevention:

  • Awareness spaces on addictions, STIs, consent, and mental health.
  • Collaboration with specialized organizations and provision of support and listening points.
  • Promotion of metal culture, its history, and its struggles.
